A Strange Day in July

  By: Micole n Talise

It was the last week of June, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. David and Theresa, Sunny Town’s only fraternal twins, were at their house doing chores to help there mother. After they did they did their chores, the two went to the kitchen  to fix their selves a little snack. They took their snack outside with them and ate it in the beach while they watched the waves roll and roar. When they finished, they took their trash and put it in the garbage can. They ran back to waves and picked up some rocks for their rock collection. They picked up orange rocks, clear rocks, and many others. The sun was setting and it was getting dark so, Theresa and David decided to get back in the house, just in time for dinner. It was David’s favorite; Mash potatoes and gravy. After dinner, the whole family got ready for bed.

The morning started like any other mornings. For breakfast they had left overs. After Theresa and David ate, they got dressed for church. Theresa wore her best dress and David wore his nicest shoes. They went to their dad’s wagon and rode to church. While the family was in church, they sang the old hymns. Once church was done, the family went homeor lunch. Mama had made some meat loaf, Papa’s favorite. When they finished, David and Theresa helped their Ma clean up. They also did some of their, chores. The two twins couldn’t play much because there’s school tomorrow, so during their free time of the day, they counted there rock collection when David and Theresa were finished counting their rocks they ended up with the number of 172 rocks. “We need a lot more rocks!” Theresa protested. “How about we mark a special day on the calendar, so we could pick up rocks.” David said. “That’s a great idea David!!!” Theresa jumped. Before they knew it, it was time for dinner. This time it was Theresa’s favorite; Fried Chicken! “Yummmmmy!!!!!” Theresa yelled and ran to the dinner table.  She sat down and then grabbed a chicken leg. Before she even put it in her mouth her mother yelled, “Theresa! I did not raise you as if you were a pig!”  “Sorry mother.”Theresa apologized. “It’s ok, but make sure it won’t happen again.” her ma said.  “I’ll try, but Ma, can I eat now?” Theresa asked. “Yes! As soon as everyone is sitting down and ready to eat.” Ma said. Everyone ate the chicken and once Theresa was done her whole plate was cleaned off. After the whole family ate dinner, Theresa helped with the dishes. When she finished she went straight to bed with her brother.

When Theresa woke up, she woke up her brother, so they could plan what they were going to do for the day. “Lets spend the whole day looking for rocks!” David suggested. “That’s a great idea!” Theresa complimented. When they went down stairs they saw their mom making breakfast and their dad drinking coffee while reading the morning paper. Theresa sat down with her brother in their normal spots. “Pancakes!” Their mother yelled through the kitchen. “Yumm, I love pancakes!” David said. “Not as much as I do. Boy I gotta get my hands on those yummy pancakes!” Theresa jumped. Theresa got the syrup and 5 pancakes and ate them as fast as she could. David was staring at her with an open mouth. Then he just forgot about her and ate his pancakes. “Theresa! Slow down!” Her mother said. When David and Theresa finished, they went to the beach to collect some rocks. When they got to the beach, the two went straight to shore line where they could find shiny rocks. “Eww look at this yucky looking rock!”  Theresa yelled. She then threw it back to the water. Theresa moved on and left her brother behind because he was in a good spot. “This is a hideous rock!” David whispered to his self. Once Theresa finished she went back to her brother. By that time, they both were close to each other, looking for rocks because it was starting to get dark. “This rock looks terrible!” David showed Theresa. “I know I saw an ugly one like it a while ago.” Theresa said. “So did I!” David explained. “Wow that’s weird! Well can we just throw it back in the beach?” Theresa asked. “Well I guess so, because that’s the only thing we could do with it.” David explained. David threw it in the water as hard as he could but then…

    It came skipping back!

“I don’t believe it! It skipped back to you David! Let me try!” Theresa exclaimed. “Ok here you go.” David handed the rock to Theresa. Theresa took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She threw. For a second they thought the rock wasn’t going to come back, but they were wrong. It came  back as if some one threw it from the other side. They took the rock home with them. The two twins were really quiet for dinner and they barely touched their food. They washed up and went in their room. David and Theresa looked at the rock and they tried to study the odd looking thing. They were lucky because they were in summer vacation so they still had time to  try to figure what was wrong with it. The rock had holes in it and it was really light. “I wonder if there’s a creature living in here?” Theresa asked. “I bet you there is! Maybe the sandy shore is their home and they didn’t want to leave it. The creatures probably threw their selves back to us.” David said. “Hello is there anything in there?” Theresa knocked on the rock. They stared at the rock and waited for it to do something.

“Holy Jesus Christ! The rock is shaking!” David screamed. Theresa hid behind the bed. David just stood there in shock. When the shaking stopped Theresa got out from behind the bed. They watched the rock to see what was going to happened next. Then there were thousand of little creatures coming out of the holes in the rock. They looked like little ants. When the little creatures needed to answer a question that one of the kids asked they would spell it out using there selves. Like if they need to say “YES,” all the creatures would come together and spell it out. It was AMAZING! “Where are you from?” Theresa asked the creatures.  “Sea Shore”, The creatures spelled out. “Would you like to come back there?” David asked next. The creatures spelled out, “Yes, Please!” “We will bring you back first thing tomorrow.” Theresa said. “Thank you.” The creatures spelled out. Theresa and David went to bed and the creatures went back in the rock. Everyone had a peaceful night after the shock.

On the next morning Theresa and David woke up very early so they could put the rock back were they got it.  “Bye” David told the creatures. Theresa set the rock behind another, so the rock won’t get bothered ever again. Theresa and David went back to the house to go get some  breakfast. From that day on Theresa and David always visited the creatures when they can.

  The End(^_^)
